Puppies, Parties & Forever Homes: Inside Our Adopt-a-Pup Celebration

As promised to my newsletter subscribers, here are the details of the 6 year old Adopt-a-Puppy-Party we put on! Now that the ring of fifteen 6 year olds on high volume has left my ears, I can finally write this post!

Starting with – the invite! Each party needs it custom invite to share the details and tie in the “paw”-ty details. We decided on a pancake and pajamas timeframe since it was the first weekend after school started, and we figured let kids roll out of bed and be excited to see their friends again!

In keeping with the theme, we brought in lots of food details like pancakes (rainbow colored of course), doughnut holes and Reese’s cereal puffs in doggie bowls to look like kibble and Scooby Snacks to look like dog treats!

Decor looked extreme, but was simple Amazon party pieces that would tie into the theme, from paw-shaped balloons to hats for the kids to wear while they adopted.

After breakfast, we played Doggie Bingo (thank you Homesense) to determine who would select the first puppy after the birthday girl. Each child got to choose a puppy (can you believe we didn’t get a shot of the puppies in their adorable grass and flower adoption area?!? Note to self : get the shot even when it might not be the best lighting), Decorate a Home, Create a Collar, and give it a Vet check-up, then receive their adoption certificates, all custom made of course. We had to make sure our wonderful parents got taken care of with special Pawseccos (only to be found at the Ritz in Cleveland).

And because we always supplement our parties with flowers, we had to of course create ourselves the famous 1-800-flowers puppies (thank you, Trade Joes!)

And don’t forget that CAKE! We are big believers in a gorgeous cake, courtesy of Paisanos bakery.
